Pittsburgh 29th May 1796
Sir
In my Letter of the 12th Instant I informed you of Charles Andersons delivering four Bundles weight 15 lbs each to Contain Wampum — & this day two Waggons have arrived partly loaded with Indian Goods partly Clothing; the Quantity of Indian Gods being too inconsiderable to form a barge for a Boat I presume it is proper to await the Arrival of the remainder of the Indian Stores in order that they may be all shipped at once; Boats are always in readiness.
On the 22d Instant a certain Ralph Rutledge one of a party of four men on their way from Le Bœuf to Presqui Isle was killed & Scalped within two miles of Presqui Isle. The other three men are missing & it is presumed they are also killed.
The State troops at Le Bœuf are nearly all disbanded very few of them having reenlisted. Capt Buchannan who commenced at that Post arrived here Yesterday with the greater part of the men under his command who are all discharged.
An Invoice of the articles furnished on the requisition of Colo Biddle together with their Estimated value shall be transmitted at a later Date. I am Sir your Hble Servt
