to that part of your letter which relates to the entering your Payments to your Credit, that they have been Suspended only where any errors have appeared as in the case of payments to Lieut Polhemus's draft from 13^th February to 21^st July, 1794 inclusive where Dor M^cCord's Pay was made up in the Rolls for that period, and the amount paid to Lieut Polhemus — altho' you mention opposite his name in the Pay Roll that his pay was to be Settled at this Office — In such case and when errors appear in the calculations as in Lieut Polhemus's Roll to 31^st Jany 1793 it is necessary that the entering Should be Suspended untill the Voucher Bill comes forward, or some information from you how it has been rect & services — In cases where your payments are made accurate and agreably to your instructions they are immediately entered to your Credit, and never suspended, but in cases as above mentioned. — Sam: M^r V^o William Simmons — John Thurston, Esq^r [D of War.
