Philada May 25th 1795
Dear Sir
I have delayed answering your letter of the 20th Inst under an expectation of being able to inform you of good success in procuring Land Warrants — unfortunately I am disappointed for after a search of two days I [strikethrough: found] only procured one of 300 Acres for which I gave Thirty Dollars [hundreds?] the money is replaced by Mr Donman to whom I have given the [undecipherable] Number 458 & issued in the name of Jacob Gibson Executor of Jonathan Gibson late a Captain in the Maryland Line — pray have you been able to send the Letter & Bundle I left with you to New York —
I will thank you to inform my Sister & Son that I this Day Received their Letters & will answer them perhaps tomor—
I am with great Respect,
yours sincerely
Joseph Howell
