[letter from Gen. Knox 25 May 1791] War Department, 25^th May, 1791. Sir, I have received your Letters of the 1^st and 15^th March last — Since which I have not heard from you— I have given orders to Major Gauly, to transport such a part of your company as are fit for service, and can with propriety be detached from your present station to the Rock Landing or such part of the Oconee, as shall be healthy and proper to collect the troops at, for the purpose of marking the line near October, mentioned in the treaty— and that your detachment proceeds up the Altamaha, by water, or by such route by land, as he shall judge more convenient and healthy— The Clothing for your Company shall be immediately shipped from New York for Savannah. I have forwarded to Major Habersham for your Company a fresh supply of medicines, and also two quarter casks of Port wine, tea & Sugar, which are to be sacredly applied to the use of the sick of your Company— The invoice thereof accompanies this Letter.
