Isaac Craig, Esq^r D. of War Accountants Office Pittsburgh Sir May 22^d 1795 I have received your letters of the 15^th Instant inclosing the account of John Arnold Corporal, which on examination will be entered to your Credit — I have to inform you in answer to that part of your letter which relates to the entering your payments to your Credit, that they have been Suspended only where any errors have appeared as in the case of pay=ments to Lieu^t Polhemus's draft from 12^th February to 31^st July 1794 inclusive where Doc^r Mc Cree's Pay was made up in the rolls for that period, and the Amount paid to Lieu^t Polhemus — altho' you mention opposite his name in the Pay roll that his pay was to be settled at this Office — In such cases and where errors appear in the calculations as in Lieu^t Polhemus's Roll to 31 Decem^t 1793 it is necessary that the entering should be suspended untill the Receipt Roll comes forward or some information from you how it has been rectified arrives — In cases where your payments are made accurate and agreeably to your instructions they are immediately entered to [strikethrough: your] your Credit, and never suspended. but in cases as above mentioned. — I am Sir Y^e — William Simmons —
