Perrault Temporary Enginiers on account of his compensation Y.C. Since which his bill for a like sum has been presented at this Office and paid, in consequence of whicho the Secretary of War has directed that the sum in your hands should be paid to Daniel De Jausure at Charleston for the Fortifications of that place you will therefore pay the same to him taking his Receipt to be accountable and transmitting them to this Office — I am Sir Y.^r— William Simmons Paul H. Perrault D. of War Accountants Offic[e] Dep.^y Engineer May 19^th 1795 Charleston Sir I wrote to you on the 15^th [Ins]advising you of a remittance of Four hundred dollars made by the Treasurer of the United States to Daniel Stevens Esq.^r to be paid to you — since which your draft in favor of Nicholas Tillsymons for a like sum has been presented and paid — I have in consequence thereof by order of the Secretary of War directed Ste[vens] to pay the amount to Daniel De Jausure at Charleston on account of the Fortifications at that place if you should have received the sum you will please pay the same to him taking his Receipt for the same to be Accountable and transmitting them to this Office — It is necessary that you should forward to this Office your account up to a certain period say 31^st May and any balance found due to you will be paid as you may direct and after that period you will please to transmit your Account every month or two to this Office advising how you wish to receive the amount. — I am Sir Y.^r William Simmons Daniel De Jausure. Perrault Engineer but a Bill for that amount drawn by M.^r Perrault having been presented at this Office and paid — the Sec. of War has ordered the sum to be paid into your hands to be applied in the like manner to the former sum
