Sir,
Your favor of the 23 ultimo. I have received with the seventeen hundred dollars for contingent expenses at this garrison. Duplicate receipts you will receive enclosed for the same.
You will also now receive Vouchers for contingent expenses — Vouchers for firewood — Muster & pay rolls of the ordnance men & recruits with their receipts to the [undecipherable] of last January — My account for salary to the 1 ultimo — Muster & pay rolls of the ordnance men & recruits to the 1st last month, and my account current dated this day. I shall very shortly forward to you another package of vouchers.
I have requested the honble the Secretary of War to send to me four thousand dollars for contingent expenses at this garrison. I am in immediate want of this money. I am, Sir,
