[Capt James Sever of the Navy Portsmouth New Hamp^t] D^ep War Accountants Office May 16 1795 Sir Joshua Watson the Dep^ty will pay you the sum of nine hundred, forty five dollars and Ninety Cents being for your pay and Subsistence from 1^st August 1794 the day you accepted your appointment to 30^th April inc. for which sum you will please give him duplicate receipts — In future, where you wish to receive your Pay &c it will be necessary that you should state your account and transmit it to this Office certifying that it is just and true and that you received no pay for the time charged, on receipt of which the money will be paid at your desire, if to be paid in this City you will please give an order, if you prefer it paid at Portsmouth it shall be transmitted to the Supervisor in the usual manner — I am Sir y^r William Simmons
