Pittsburg 15.^th May 1795 Sir I have received your Letter of the 8^th Instant with its several Enclosures. I shall pay attention to your Instructions but I am Sorry any errors have been found in my Payments I wish you had pointed them & have reason to believe they are neither for many or great. You observe that previous to the amount of my payments passing to my credit you have to wait the arrival of the Receipt Rolls. The reason of this I cannot conceive, as I have always hitherto had reason to consider the Pay Rolls Examined & Compared with the Muster Rolls properly authenticated & Receipts of Payment acknowledged by the Officers commanding Detachments as a Sufficient Voucher for the Amounts immediately passing to my credit, if it is otherwise I am Still Accountable for the pay of the men untill the Officers please to transmit their Receipts, of this I wish an explanation as early as possible. I Shall immediately apply to the Officers for the Balances remaining in their hands agreeable to your Statement.
