by a commissioned Officer but this is none present, by [undecipherable] persons of respectability — I have received your letter of [the] 25 Ultimo to the late Accountant, and in answer th[ereto] inform you that it is necessary you would send on the [undecipherable] of your receipts for the Bounty you have paid them on the terms under [undecipherable] to the Secretary of War — if any of the men you have inlisted since 1^st January 179[undecipherable] are to remain at Wilmington, in that case I would advise that they be paid the full bounty allowed by Congress in the act passed the 2^d of March last— but if they are to march from thence the sum of five Dollars to be retained from each man so inlisted after the 1^st of January until he joins the regiment or Corps in which he is to serve — I have returned your muster roll in order that you will be qualified to it when done you will transmit to this Office — I am Sir Y^r William Simmons Daniel Stevens, Esq.
