Orr Esq^re he has presented to the Office the following sums being for services of the [undecipherable] of Mason County. Viz: On 7^th March 1794 — for services between 13^th May to 31 December 1793                                                   1460      4 June      for Balance due for services performed between 13^th May 1793 and 13 June 1794 —                                  23[undecipherable]      28^th April 1795 for services between 13 March and 23^rd December 1794 —                                     189[undecipherable] Amounting to two thousand seven hundred and [undecipherable] five dollars and [undecipherable] for which sums you are held [undecipherable] for the due application. It is a very desirable thing to have the above payments completed as soon as possible — In paying the men it is necessary that you should have in view the Act of Congress of 8^th May which enacts that no assignment of Pay after 1^st Jan[uary] in that year by a Non Commissioned Officer or private shall be valid — if some of the Claimants should not be able to come forward in such case if application is made [powers?] of attorney it ought to express that the money is [undecipherable] for the use of the [Soldiers?] and to be properly acknowledged — In taking the Receipts you will [undecipherable] that where the Signature is not written it is to be witnessed by a respectable evidence — after the payments are completed as far as Claimants appear, the bala[nce]
