In consequence of your P[ower]
of attorney to Alexander D. Orr. Esqr. he has received [from]
the Office the following sums being for services of the Se[undecipherable]
of Mason County - Viz. On 17th March 1794 for service[s]
between 13th May
to 31 December 1793 .......... 1460[.]

performed between 13th
May 1793. and 12 Jany 1794 - 28[.]
" 28th April 1795 for services between 15 March
and 23d December 1794 - 129[undecipherable]
Amounting to two thousand seven hundred and eig[undecipherable]

countable for the due application. It is a very desirable
thing to have the above payments completed as so[on]
as possible - In paying the men it is necessary that
you should have in view the Act of Congress of 8th May 1[undecipherable]
which enacts that no assignment of Pay after 1st Jun[e]
in that year by a Non Commissioned Officer or private sh[all]
be valid - if some of the claimants should not be ab[le]
to come forward in such cases if Application is made[,]
Powers of attorney it ought to express that the money is [to]
be received for the use of the Soldier and to be prop[erly]
acknowledged - In taking the Receipts you will ob[ser]-
ve that where the signature is not written it is to be
witnessed by a respectable evidence - after the paym[ents]
are completed as far as claimants appear. the bala[nce]
if any remains due is to be refunded to Treasurer of the
United States - You will receive enclosed a receipt roll
for the last sum only, as I presume you have obtained
the receipts for the former sums. -
