I cannot admit that there is an Error in the Charge made by Lowell for the Secretary Letter to me March 10 1790. The Keeper of the Light Houses on Plumb Island is to be allowed an Annual Sum of Two Hundred and twenty dollars. By your Letter July [undecipherable] 1793 you inform me that the President had reviewed the matter of Compensation for the Keeper of Lighthouses, that he had augmented the Compensation to that of Portland and reduced [undecipherable: Plymouth] Boston & Thatcher Island. no mention is made of the Keeper of Lights of Plumb Island & of Nantucket &[undecipherable] therefore that they Stand as Stated by the President in March 1790. I am &c
