Dear Sir
Your favour of the 1st Instant is this moment come to hand, enclosing a list of Advances, made on Account of Campbell the Armourer, whom I am glad is returning as his Services is much wanted.
Mr Daniel Hanagan Assistant Q. M. Port Washington, by his Letter of the 9th Ultimo this day received, advises me of the Receipts of Colo Jonathan Daytons Draft on Israel Ludlow in your favour, but says that Mr Ludlow was then at the mouth of the Ohio & that he had Consulted Capt John Ludlow respecting it, who informed him that Israel Ludlow (his Brother) had not authorised any person to transact Business for him in his Absence, but that he expected his return early in May, & had no doubt of the Draft then being honored at Sight. Mr Hanagan therefore concluded to keep the Draft & present it to him on his arrival, after which you will have the earliest notice of its fate.
