May 8th 179[3?]
Sir
Major Craig has transmitted to this Office sundry pay rolls and one receipt telling payments you made your men up to June 30. 179[2?] examining a few of them, I find that there still are some sums due and some errors have arisen in the ment of the men which I hope in future will not be case as I have sent printed Receipt rolls to Major Craig one of which he is to deliver you for each pay in which you are to Copy exactly each mans name who has pay due from the Pay roll, and when a money remains in your hands unpaid you are to mention opposite the name in the Receipt the and pay all such sums into the hands of Major Craig that each sum he advances you may be balanced by the Receipt of the men and his receipt for the sum in your hands which you are to pay him and take duplicate receipt for the same — In the Muster rolls there appears many errors in the returns you having mentioned during the whole year 179[?] opposite many of the names paid to 30 June 1794 many errors of the same nature which have arisen in the Copying — In future you will please pay strictest attention to accuracy in all cases, as errors retard the settlement of your Accounts.
I have transmitted to Major Craig a list of men remaining in your hands on payment of your to 30 of June which are to be paid to him as directed for.
I am Sir Your Most Obt
