Missing Boxes
Document 1795Beach tells Hodgdon that the man he entrusted with making boxes has apparently done a shoddy job, and Beach would prefer using casks. He wishes to send them to Hodgdon and hopes a use for them may be found.
Mr Beach 7th May 1795 [The Following is 90 degrees clock-wise] Samuel Hodgdon Philadelphia forward by Mr Baldwin New York May 7th 1795 Sir Before I returned from Philadelphia the man who I had ingaged to make the boxes had made what we have now sent - we were obliged to take them - or I wood not sent them for I see the casks are much better & we shall send the residue in casks - if you can find use for them so that you can pay for them you will much oblige sir yours Nath’ Beach Samuel Hodgdon Esqr
