Dear Sir, Maj^r Brig^r Howe being Summoned to attend the Court as a witness in behalf of the United States on the Trial of the Insurgents in Philadelphia and to enable him to proceed on his Journey, I have advanced him one hundred and Twenty two Dollars. and as there is a possibility of his not returning to this post I have taken his draft (which you will find enclosed), on W^m Simons accountant War Dep^t in my fav^r. this Draft I have to request you to Present for Acceptance & when paid place the am^t to my Credit, N.B. You will please to inform M^r Simons that Maj^r Howes Pay subsistance and forage is Settled and paid up to the 1^st of March 1795. only In addition to Maj^r Howes draft there is herewith enclosed my receipt for 2570 Doll for Pay Forage &^c of the Troops at the upper post of the Ohio this receipt You will please to hand to W^m Simmons Esq^r. An Invoice of Indian Goods is also enclosed the property of Captain James P.
