Dear Sir
This will be handed you by Mr Adam Birchfield in whose favour I have drawn on you at eight days sight for one Thousand Dollars he having delivered that sum in small notes to me which enables me to Carry on the business of the Department without much difficulty.
The Waggons now Purchased are without Covers I therefore presume if the Quarter Master Genl has not taken that article into veiw in his Estimate for the Current Year, it is proper that it shou'd yet be attended to in Philadelphia
The Marque brought to this place by the Secretary of the Treasury, is it to be sent forward to General Wayne or is it to be return'd to Philadelphia.
The Stationary & Scale Beams for the [strikethrough: Stationary] Commissary Genl & the remainder of Genl Wayne stores is arrived & are to go forward to morrow together with other articles.
Please to hand the enclosed rects to Col. O'Hara: — be pleased to send me by the bearer or any other safe hand a sufficient number of Penny weights and Grains to weigh a Doubloon
