Subs.] Dear Sir Pittsburg 10^th April 1795 I have received your letter of the 7^th Instant, Enclosing three Thousand Dollars in Post Notes, this Sum is come to hand very — [strikethrough: opportun] On the 8^th Instant I look up of John Irwin Merchant, five hundred Dollars and have taken the liberty of drawing on you in his favour at Ten days sight, and I have been under the necessity of applying to two other Merchants for other Sums, the Amount of which I shall also draw on you for, giving you the necessary Advice. The Quarter Master General & his lady set off for your City on the 4^th Instant. It is therefore probable you will see him before this reaches you; he has promised to give every necessary [underline: Assistance in obtaining] a settlement of Major [undecipherable: Irwin's?] Archibald Seeds, & General [undecipherable: Iblain's] Carriage Accts. In order that their Amount may pass to my credit. I find on the minutest enquiry that Cordage for Vessels of the Burthen you mention, cannot at present be manufactured in this neighbourhood, for notwithstanding Hemp may be procured the necessary Apparatus for making large Cordage has not yet been established at this place. Yarn, as I before Observed to you can be Obtained, at thirty three & one thirds Cents ℔ Gallon.
