Pittsburg 10^th April 1795. Sir, Agreeable to your Instructions I have Stopped & sent forward the Indian Goods on the 8. Instant, a General Invoice of all the Indian Goods on hand together with a particular Invoice of the articles pointed out in your letter of the 18^th Ulmo will be forwarded you by the Quarter Master Gen^l who is now on his way to Philadelphia, the whole of the Indian Goods is notwithstanding sent to Fort Washington on board the same Boat. As repeated difficulties have Occurred & considerable loses have been sustained by late boatmen in driving Batteaux & Pack Horses to Fort Franklin by straying in dark nights I have suggested to Col^o Butler that it is necessary that the road or path from this Post to Fort Franklin should be in some measure opened & Stands or Inclosures made at proper distances for securing Batteaux at night; but notwithstanding Col^o Butler approves of the measure he apprehends it is necessary first to obtain your permission to employ a party of the men now under his command on that service.
