M. Dept. by this statement, I am led to presume you have not rec^d my Letter of the 17^th Ultimo, transmitted by The Hands of Col. McNair, which I apprehend would have Obviated some of the Difficulties you mention. You will therefore find a Duplicate of that Letter enclosed, to which I have to beg your immediate & particular attention my Letter by Last Post. Viz of the 5^th Instant, has pointed out some of the purposes for which cash is immediately wanted. I have some times ago applyd to you for a sett of books rul'd for Doll.^s & Cents.
