Extract from the Secretary of the Treasury Orders the 11 March 1795 Letter 1^st The Presents for Indians will hereafter be Subject to the following examinations. 2^d All purchases in that may be necessary in this affair will be made by Contract or by agents accountable to you. 3^d The Presents for Indian Trade, which may be [sent?] from this Quarter, will be addressed to you, and [must?] be placed by you in the hands of such agents as shall be designated by the Secretary of War. 4^th The Governor of South Western Territory as [Superintendent?] of Indian Affairs will direct what [articles?] shall be made, by notes addressed to the Agents in whose hands the Funds may be placed. 5^th The accounts for the [undecipherable] and delivery of Indian Goods will be [presented?] to you, by the Agents for examination and will be [accompanied?] by proofs, the [undecipherable] of [undecipherable], with such [remarks?] as may [facilitate?] [and?] regular [settlements?]. [undecipherable] are destined to have constantly on hand the [undecipherable] distribution & arrangements [undecipherable] of [undecipherable] Money — 6^th All accounts for purchases or for objects requiring an expenditure of Money, other than for the pay of the Troops, or accounts in relation to sums remitted through the Department of War, are to be rendered to the Treasury. 7^th All accounts 8^th All accounts go to the [Pay Master?] or for expenditures of sums remitted directly by the Department of War, are to be rendered to the Accountant to the War Department. 9^th All Accounts for persons [?] and [undecipherable] of public property purchased under your agency, or addressed to your care, are to be rendered to [Samuel?] [Hodgdon?] [Agent?] [Superintendent?] of a Military Store—. The accounts to be rendered into the foregoing ought to show on balance [columns?] the quantities of all articles purchased or received, the Quantities [given?] or delivered with the orders or [vouchers?] therefor, and the quantities of all articles remaining on hand. The forms of accounts on which [settlements?] are to be made Should be transmitted within a quarter at least, or before by every [consignment?] or at least once in a month, by [undecipherable], a Summary view of the tables which [undecipherable] [undecipherable] received and [undecipherable] in the quantities remaining on hand.
