[March 10. 1795 to Charles Vincent New York] [March 11. 1795 To Charles Vincent New York] War Office March 11^th 1795 Sir, The Treasurer has remitted to Nich^l Fish Esq. Supervisor of New York the sum of Two hundred & thirty six dollars being for your Compensation as an Engineer from the 1^st Jan^y. to the 28 Feb^y 1795. In your letter of the 13 Ulto you mention that M^r Monaney has been appointed as an Assistant Engineer, by a letter from Gen^l Knox from the [undecipherable] of August; it is not to be found in Records in the War office; but if you can find me that letter or a certified copy thereof, I will lay the same before the Sec^y of War who will no doubt direct the money to be transmitted for the pay of M^r Monaney. The Thirty dollars charged in M^r Mangins account for Office rent is conceived to be an improper charge against the United States & should be charged to the State of New York; you will therefore apply to the proper Authority for that expence — I am Sir &c M^r Charles Vincent New York J.
