War department T. Pickering General Israel Chapen Kanandaigua New York [stamped] 6 MR War Office March 6, 1795 Dear Sir I received your letters of January 19th & Feby 9th to which I must hereafter more particularly reply. In the meantime I have the pleasues to inform you, that several tribes of the Western Indians have sent their deputies to General Wayne with overtures for a general peace. By the information of the Miami deputies, it appeared that the Chiefs of the other hostile tribes, (Delawares, Shawnees and Wyandots) were alike inclined to peace. The deputies agreed on a suspension of hostilities until peace should be concluded on. It is proposed to hold the Treaty for making peace at Greenville, near fort Jefferson, on the middle of next June. I was happy to learn that your disease disease was abated your next I hope will inform me of your perfect recovery.
I am with sincere esteem your most obt servt. Timothy Pickering General Chapin
