[Letter] [from J. Bryant, dated July 13, 1795] [Rec^d 24 July] Springfield Feb^y 13 1795 Inclosed the return of Ordnance and Military Stores for the Month of January. I have received a letter from the Secretary of War this week, directing M^r Ames and myself to consult what quantity of land is necessary for the purpose of carrying on the Public business at this place and the Denomination of it — and obtain a full title to the land. I have been to the Town Clerks office to inquire about the purchase of the land when the public buildings now are. I have seen the deed the land was leased for 99 years for 40 pounds he could not find all the papers at present but he says there is about fifty pounds due to the Town. will attend to the business and write the Secretary of War on the business perticularly next week. we are at work on the carriages for the six pounders. four of the bodys of the carriages are done and frond & twelve of the wheels are made and eight more nearly finished. one pair of limbers are finished and the ship prepared for a number more. I shall do all in my power to have all the Cannon mounted as soon as possible.
