Dear Sir, Your favour of the 30^th Ultimo is before me. your attention to my request respecting the Commissary Department as to my Interest generally demands my most gratefull Acknowledgements — I have hitherto postponed the transmission of my Vouchers of Expenditures waiting the return of the Q. M. Gen^d. Whom we have expected here since the 1^st of Decem. wishing to submit my transactions to him previous to their Being exhibited to the Auditors of the Treasury But as his arrival is still uncertain, I find it nec=ary to transmit you an Abstract of Disbursements — Comprehending the expenditures Occasioned by trans=actions in Quarter Master department. at this post and its Dependencies including Ohio Mail Boat. from 1^st July 1794. to the end of the Year, Accompanied by a Statement which Shews that a large ballance is Still due, & You will Please to Observe that the Expenditures on the Ohio Mail Boat is necessarily included in the Gen^l. Statement, But a particular Abstract of the Relative transactions will be transmitted to the Post Master Gen^l. Accompanied by the several Vouchers which will be deducted from the Gen^l Abstract. The whole I expect to transmit by next post. — You will however see that I am. Under a necessity of pressing you for a remittance of the Ballance or at least a Considerable part of it to replace monies borrowed and take up several Large due bills and also replace money put into my hands for pay of the Troops at the upper post which the are every Month calling on me for. In a former Letter I intimated to you that Nail rods and Spikeiron, were all expended & that a further Supply is much wanted three Neilors of the Garrison of Fort Fayette furnished with a Complete Shop & Tools are Idle I am.
