D — February 5^th 1795— Sir, I acknowledge the rec.^t of your Letter of Jany 31^st & in pursuance of an arrangement concerted by my predecessor I have to inform you, that a Warr.^t will issue for [strikethrough: lately] placing in the hands of the Treasurer for for the use of the War Department, the Sum of Sixty Thousand Dollars, to be applied [strikethrough: to the payment of the] towards the pay of the Virginia Militia. It is proposed that this Sum shall be furnished in Drafts on certain [undecipherable: probable reading collectors] to the amount of Twelve Thousand Dollars, & the remaining Forty eight Thousand Dollars in Bank Post Notes at Thirty days sight.
