Sir Pittsburg 30 Augt 1795 I have receiv'd your letter of the 14^th [undecipherable] respecting the Ohio [undecipherable]. I am glad you have enjoy'd Gen^l Putnam to accommodate that business as he is enabled by his now immediate observation to see any necessary alteration or improvement in the original establishment of the short boats, any alteration that he may suggest or make I shall conform to, the terms of Book N^o 1 [undecipherable] and the Port riders are finish'd up to the end of the year 1794, the term of last N^o 2 has had considerable advance of both made and with to finish off also to the end of the year by Major Beak patrole on his way to Head Quarters. I have directed them to make the necessary arrangements for paying them monthly the Galliopolis to Limestone. The vouchers of expendiency in that district up to the end of last year shall be transmitted to the Gen^l Post office as soon as the Division N^o 3 arrives. Bolo Clarajan Parah has exhibited a charge against the United States for repairs of the Galliopolis at Marrietta, and as I am not authorized to determine whether the repairs of the works at that place are to be made at the expense of the United States or not I have herewith enclosed a copy of his account together with an account of a charge of provisions received as assistant Quarter master founded on an Extract of the Secretary of [their] letter to me dated 28 June 1793 which I presume is on record with respect to the business to which the was intended to execute the command. The continuance of the [undecipherable] presents it from being carried into effect. I have therefore to beg your opinion on both those charges agreeable to the Contract for supplying rations for the present year a requisition is to be made by the Commissary General & deputy for Pittsburg for the quantity required for the several posts, but as considerable quantity of provisions is found at Marrietta & Galliopolis to Militia and others who do not make returns to Bolo Bakers, the quantity therefore can be ascertained at the war office only. I have therefore to request an estimate for those two Posts as early as possible. I have this day taken the liberty of drawing on Charles Bidwell Esq. in favor of William Semple for three hundred Dollars at ten days sight on account of expenditures in the Post office Department.
