Jan^y 22. 1795 I have obtained a copy of the Account of D^r Goived as settled by the State of Virginia for the depreciation on his pay & do myself the Honor to enclose it — the Account presented to the Committee was stated at the Treasury merely with a View to close the Doctors Account in the Books of the Hospital department. The View of D^r Goived has no further claim on the United States unless it is the Specie Value of the $2350 charged by the State, received in March 1779 as Pay Master to the 3^d Virg^a Reg^t. This sum from has probably been discharged by the State of Virginia as I find by a letter dated [strikethrough: from] the 19 July 1792 [undecipherable: a letter] from a gentleman at Richmond to me on the subject of D^r Gouds accounts he says "if I can obtain a Copy of the Account settled with the State the 9 July 1797 and of all the Vouchers filed with it he [the United Gif States] Merits a Certificate may Shew for what may be due" at the request of the gentleman I forwarded all the papers necessary to a settlement — In respect to the case of Cap^t Robert Flavia, I have to shew that if depreciation is allowed him [undecipherable] enclose the United States in a settlement with several Hundred.
