Dear Sir
I have received your letter of the 2d Instant enclosing two thousand [strikethrough: Dollars] in Post Notes the Packet of news papers is also Come to hands —
I am extreemly sorry that our mutual good & good Friend has returned from the War Department and I sincerely wish that his retirement may contribute to his felicity, one Consolation is left us Viz that hes is succeeded by a Gentleman well qualified to fill that — important Office. —
Moses Dickey a Waggoner has this day delivered a load of Clothing go[?] which he has my rect Mr Dickey having expended all his money I found it necessary to advance him ten — Dollars go[?] which he is to account with you on settling his carriage account, his rect is enclosed —
I have sent by Dickey a [undecipherable: Post man?] Trunk the Property of Col A Hamilton — Which please to have delivered, Dickey will also leave with you a Bag Marked David Lewis g[undecipherable] Clothing, this you will also please to send as directed — I am with great Esteem
