I have receiv'd, Major Staggs Letter of the 3d Instant informing me of Genl Knox's resignation and of your appointment as his Successor, on this event give me leave to congratulate you.
The Contractors for the present year are about delivering a Quantity of Provisions for the upper posts of the Ohio — I have been furnished with a Copy of their Contract, but instructions respecting the place it is to be delivered & mode of Inspecting is wanting; the Contractors suppose that they may deliver at any point as place of Pittsburg, I am with great respect
