[Copy] War Department, April 18^th 1792 Sir, I have directed a list of the Stores to be transmitted to your Excellency which have been shipped for Charleston on Board of the vessel commanded by Captain Gorman — I have taken the liberty of adding the Stores and Stores to your orders, and I pray that if you judge Captain Michael Harpeigen to be a proper person, that you would place them under his charge. If you should judge him incompetent to the Business you will please to place them under the Charge of some other person and notify me thereof — I beg leave to observe that the brass howitzers are excellent, and being on travelling Carriages may be moved from one place to another — The four toisnot Mortars are also good — The Iron twelve pounders are intended only as a Substitute for heavier Cannon which will be forwarded as soon as they shall be cast; which will require some Months.
