December 31^st 1794 Caleb Gibbs, appointed Clerk of the Naval Yard at Boston. — see Instructions page 58. — [Henry Jackson Esq] Sir, War Department Dec^t 31^st 1794 I have just received the enclosed from Tench Coxe Esq^t Commissioner of the Revenue. — I request you & Captain Nicholson to concur in the appointment of an Inspector who shall be sworn to reject all which is not of the most perfect quality. — You will have the Duck stored until further orders, in some brick & slated building and in a part of the Town which shall be secure from fire. — . General Knox, the late Secretary of War has directed me to inform you, that he has had your letter of the 26^th of September last under consideration, & has consulted M^r Humphreys the Constructor on the subject thereof, who has no objections to the keel of the Frigate being made in the manner pointed out by you, but that no alterations can be made in the dimensions of the timber. — .
