Major Kirkpatrick will be prepared to descend the Ohio, the moment your instructions come to hand. I presume a generous Compensation will be allowed for the duties of Commissary at this post & that the appointment will not be derogatory to the Office I have hitherto filled. Capt Lyman with his detachment set off for Fort Washington on the 20^th & Lieut Leighheiser with another Detachment embarked & set off 23^d Instant.
