[Isaac Craig]
Sir
Pittsburg 10. Nov 94.
I have receiv'd your letter of the 2d Nov. by Samuel Pitkin, & that of the same date by Bolo Sproat Fisher also at the same time delivered a letter accompanied by two Parcels from Joseph Hewett Esq said to contain Fifty four Thousand six hundred & twenty Dollars for Pay &c of the army at Head Quarters and the lower posts of the Ohio. These Parcels I have sent forward in charge of Lieut Daniel Bissell who has an escort of one Ensign & forty non commissioned officers & privates on board a keel boat well fitted out, the dispatches for Genl Wayne in charge of Reynolds are on board same boat, which set off early Yesterday morning.
Capt Lyman with the Detachment under his command is to embark to morrow morning.
Capt Richard Sparks has presented an order on me drawn by order of Governor Lee in favor of Capt Sparks for compensation of his services whilst going express to Frederick and returning, and as it is probable a number of similar accounts will be exhibited, I have to request your Instructions respecting Pay of Militia & Accounts generally.
I shall endeavour at a settlement of compensation for services of Bolo Sproat altho' I confess it is a disagreeable task. You know it is almost impossible to avoid an error on one side or the other.
I am with great esteem
Honble. Sir your Ob: Hle Serv:t
