No 44 War Department Accountant Office November 19th 1794 Sir I have received your letter of 7th Instant covering your receipt for three thousand give hundred & forty Dollars remitted for the Pay Subsistence & Forage of the troops at the uper posts of the Ohio to the 1st of Octor last, also inclosing the rolls & rects annexed of the detachment, at Fort Randolph for the months of April, May, June & July 1794 The rolls of that post from 1st Augt 1793 to 1st of April 1794 are found to have been transmitted, but were reported at the time I wrote, to wanting by the examining clerk on the supposition that Wheeling & Fort Randolph were two seperate posts. It is not conformably to the rules of Office to return receipts once filed as vouchers for entries in the Book or is it of any importance to the party having receipts for money to be delivered over to an other person as [missing] the transmission of such persons receipts the charge is [illegible] transfer’d to his debit & the first party in consequence exonerated the above therefore stands charged to you and not to the debit of Colo Butler.
