hundred and fifty dollars remitted for the pay subsistence and forage of the Troops at the upper posts of the Ohio to the 1^st of October, but also enclosing the rolls of receipts [undecipherable] of the detachment at Fort Randolph in the months of April May, June and July 1794. The rolls of that post from 1^st January go to 1^st April 1794 are said to have been transmitted, but were rejected at the time I wrote to be wanting in the examining clerk on the supposition that Wheeling and Fort Randolph were two separate posts. It is not conformable to the rules of Ohio to return receipts and filed as vouchers for entries in the books as is it of any importance to the party having accepted, for money to be delivered over to an other person, as on the transmission of such persons receipt the charge is transferred to his debit and the first party in consequence exonerated, the above sum therefore stands charged to you and not to the debit of Col.
