NN— Barron, Samuel Norfolk Nov^r 13. 1794— Sir I hope I am not out of order when I beg leave to recommend to your favord a worthy man who is &has been some time in my Employ. I whose return I daily look for, from Europe, he before sailing express'd a desire of entering in the Navy Sinard first Lieutenants birth for board the Frigate to be built here — He has long hailed Chief [undecipherable] Young man. I can recommend as a perfect Seaman an Industrious active sober man. I in all respects a Gentleman, that will do credit to the post he fills; I have a particular friendship for him &beg to Offer any Security necessary for his appointment — I have Spoken to Cap^t Dale on the subject of Cap^t Samuel Barron— I believe that if Cap^t Dale has the appointment of his own Officers he will favor Cap^t Barron as his first Lieut— having I am inform'd had his character from Others — I have requested my very Respectd friend G^r Meade Esq^r to second This my Petition with his Interest. &I flatter myself.
