Conveying the Invalids' baggage
Document 1794The Department of War has directed Hutchins to apply to Hodgdon for wagons to convey the baggage of the invalids of his detachment to Pittsburgh. He requires two wagons since there are numerous invalids.
Hutchin’s Note 12 November 1794 [numeral 141 written in what appears to be pencil with a circle around it.) [Received from State Dep’t Nov. 24.1894 R.P.O.401310] Sam.l Hodgdon Quarter Master [undecipherable] Sir I am directed by the Department of War to apply to you for the Means of conveying the Baggage of invalids of my detachment to Pittsburgh. It is necessary that I should be furnished with two Waggons for that purpose one being insufficient as the invalids are numerous–you will therefore inform me by the Bearer whether I can have the Waggons by six o’clock tomorrow morning_ as I must make my report by this evening.
