Document 1794Informs Governor William Blount of Southwest Territory that Indian chief Tickagiskee recently arrived at Tellico Block House with about 300 Indians. They requested provisions, which were granted. Writes that Colonel Watts has arrived to negotiate for an exchange of prisoners. Watts has informed him that one or two days before the illegal destruction of the Lower Cherokee towns, Nickajack and Running Watter, two scalps were brought into the former, one by a Cherokee.
