Charleston 1^st Novem^ber 1794 [No] I now inclose you the Muster Roll of the Troop under my command for the Month of October. I have not yet been favored with one line from General Knox on you since I received the dispatches delivered me by Lieut. Cox when the Troops first arrived here. I have wrote by way of opportunity and given every information in my power, fully Stated the Deficiencies I labor under, and sent Letters and Muster Rolls, as my Letters went by Post, and also by Vessels bound to Philadelphia and New York who have arrived Safe there. I can not suppose they have all miscarried. I must Take the Liberty of again mentioning my very distressing Situation. No Commissary to Supply Either Provisions or any other Necessary for the troop. no money to purchase either nor for any purpose whatever, but the Recruiting Party. Sir Peramese advance me money nor make any Contract. I am under the deepest to make the best contract I can with Mr Cameron who Supplies the Recruiting Party, who has agreed to supply the men in the Same Troop, and I have been obliged to borrow money to pay him. The provisions that from Philadelphia were very Bad they have again been examined & considerable part Condemned. the particulars Shall be Sent in my next with a general letter of the whole. Lieut Cox having made me his fortune. he is at Columbia Recruiting.
