October 25. 1794 Sir, On the 7^th inst your favor of the 17 of Sept^r was received, and this day yours of the 14^th instant by Major Shepard. I have issued my Warrant in your favor payable to Major Shepard for six thousand dollars, on account of the treaty now holding at Canandaigua by Colonel Pickering. I hope that you will keep a fair account of all expenditures, and render it promptly and properly vouched to the Treasury, so that both the public and you may be reciprocally satisfied with each other. I have written pretty generally to Colonel Pickering, therefore at present it will be needless for me to enlarge to you.
