I have received your letter of 3.d Inst [undecipherable: accompanied] upon receipts for payments to your men for their pay for the month of May last — I cannot comply with your request that Major Craig shall settle your accounts excepting for such pay and subsistence — You will however deposit your accounts and vouchers with him for which he will give you a descriptive receipt to be transmitted to me and you will pay him the balance remaining in your hands — I have [undecipherable: passed] the full amount of your check for Eighty dollars in your pay for May & June last in favor of M. Sullivan so that the balance of 28 dollars & 20 Cts stated to be due from you in my letter of 20th June may also be refunded to Major Craig —
