To you is confided the important charge of Fifty Thousand dollars for the pay of the Militia Army called out into actual Service by the President of the United States for the suppression of an insurrection in the frontiers of the State of Pennsylvania, to be by you delivered to Ephraim Blaine Esqr at Carlisle, in order to be paid to Brodley Nevill Esqr the paymaster of the said Militia Army — You will take duplicate Receipts.
You will take every precaution for the Security of your charge; never trusting the money from you, and securing it and yourself during the night.
If it should so happen that Col. Ephraim Blaine, is not at Carlisle on your arrival, you will then proceed on with all possible dispatch until you overtake him or Brodley Nevill Esqr on the route of the Militia Army from Carlisle to [undecipherable].
Having completed the objects of your mission you are to return to this place, and report your proceedings.
