Description

Major John Buell writes the Secretary of War on the arrival of General Anthony Wayne's forces to the Miami village, where they began a fortification without any molestation from the Indians. Four deserters of the British army came in, and they learned that the Indians are in the vicinity of the British post at the foot of the Rapids, numbering about 1,600. Also mentions that the U.S. Army has been on half allowance of flour for some time and for 8 days without salt. But they now have plenty of beef, flour, salt and whiskey and are in "high spirits" and appear to be in the "greatest harmony."
