Sir, Philadelphia October 2^d 1794 I have received a letter of the 30 Ult^o from M^r William Hughes of Maryland, one of the contractors for Casting Cannon — in which he requests that a person may be appointed to prove the guns, when the first five or six of them are cast — that shot & powder may be sent forward, for that purpose and observing, that as the cravings for the guns bear the figure of an Eagle, the carvings must be executed in Philadelphia, & four sent down next week.
