Lancaster Sept 29^th 1794 Sir By yesterdays Post I recd your letter of the 25^th that of the 18^th has not come to hand — I have given the necessary orders for Transporting 500 Rifles to Fort Cumberland & hope they will be loaded this day, the Waggons are now scarce here as the the rent is 10 or 12 miles long or I deem it prudent to send them by Carlisle, that the Commanding Officer there may furnish an escort if he finds it necessary, & I will write to him to that affect — Governor mifflin informed me by letter that the Shop of the Treasury, then acting for the Shop at Severn has told him that I would be directed to furnish him from 1 & 2 Hundred rifles at Carlisle on this Appearance I ordered him 175 the number he required, to be rec^d at Georgetown Town where he now is — probably the 200 you mention were to Supply him, if so the demand is answered — if not please to advise M^r Jos.
