Sir,
Your favors of the 4 & 11th instant I received the 17th. I now enclose you a package of Vouchers amounting to 3240 dollars f67 cents. The departure of the post prevents my sending more at this time. By the next post, or the post after, I will send you another package.
I have requested the hon.ble the Secretary of War to send immediately to me for contingent expenses at this Garrison three thousand dollars. As I am driving on the fortifications here with vigor, agreeably to the orders of the Secretary of War, it is requisite the above mentioned sum should be forwarded immediately on the receipt of my letters.
