W.D. Accountants Office September 18^th 1794 Sir: On the 12^th of May the Treasurer of the U. States committed to you the sum of nine thousand nine hundred and eleven dollars to be paid to Constant Freeman Esq. being for pay &c of the troops in Georgia agreeably to my letter of advice to you of the 10^th of same month. this money was remitted in part notes of the Bank of the U. States payable to Constant Freeman, in a letter addressed to you to the care of John Habersham Esq— Mr Freeman as late as the 10^th of August, writes that having applied to you the money had not then come to your hands, so long a time having elapsed has occasioned great uneasiness for the safety of the money as well as the great delay of payments to the troops. I have therefore to request you will be pleased to inquire into the causes of the detention of this money and to report the result of your investigations immediately.— The Treasurer committed to you also on the 10^th July five hundred dollars to be paid to John Perrien at Savannah for the purpose of mounting Caravan on the 1^st of August, also thousand eight hundred and two dollars to be transmitted to Constant Freeman Esq. being for pay and forage of the troops for June and July in Current Notes. on the 29^th of same month the like sum for pay &c
