I received your letter of the 16^th enclosing an invoice of stores forwarded to Trenton in two waggons — I waited on Major Kersey, last evening, and requested a party from his recruits to work in the Labaratory — a Serjeant and eight or ten men were to be detailed for that duty, and the Serjeant directed to call on you this morning and take your further orders — In [undecipherable] of this party, the Secretary of the Treasury suggests [undecipherable] prioty of hiring [undecipherable: additional] hands if [undecipherable] should think it necessary — Lieut Hutchins, with fourteen artillery recruits, is now on his march to this city, from Jersey — He may be expected here to morrow — These men may be at your service — The Secretary of the Treasury requests to be informed whether fifteen hundred Stand of arms have been sent to Virginia — If not, he directs it may be done — He also requests that one half of the Entrenching tools may be forwarded to Carlisle as early as possible; and that you will have the goodness to let him have a return of the several Articles which have been furnished by you for the Jersey Militia, especially tents — With esteem, and respect, I am Sir, Your ob^t.
