Dear Sir Your letter of the 5^th Instant enclosing One thousand Dollars in post notes, & a General Return of Clothing is duely come to hand. I have been under a necessity of taking up a considerable sum of money of Cap^t James G. Herron & I have this day drawn on you in his favour payable ten days after sight, Viz one Bill for Twelve Hundred Dollars, and one other Bill for Six Hundred Dollars, total Eighteen hundred Dollars which Please to Pay and Charge as Usual. Cap^t Herron has Yet a Considerable Sum of [strikethrough: money in his hands] which he proposes to remitt to Baltimore & Philadelphia, it will therefore not be necessary (in the present distracted State of Affairs) to risque money by post. —— On Settlement of an account with John Belli on the 4^th Instant, for Sundry Payments to Boat=men & others a Ballance of three Hundred Dollars appeared in his favour for which I have drawn on You in his favor at Thirty days sight, which please to Pay.
